The North Myrtle Beach High School wrestling team continued their winning ways last week as they beat Conway 45-22 on Monday at home and then took care of West Brunswick 42-35 and New Hanover 65-18 in a visit to Shallotte on Wednesday. The Chiefs win over Conway began at the 126-pound weight class as Naszeir Bellamy won by forfeit and a 6-0 score. Teagan Britt-Tripp(132) was behind 2-3 after the first two minutes, went ahead 6-4 after the second and then held on for an 8-7 decision over Conway’s Antonio Hernandez-Rivera and the Chiefs led 9-0. NMB VFW Post 10804 wins recognition for their newsletter

That’s the record North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 achieved this past weekend at the Department of S.C., VFW’S Winter Conference in Columbia, when the Post, again, won the Outstanding Post Newsletter in S.C. for 2019. The award is based on criteria that includes an informed membership, listing leadership contact information, membership recruiting, support of Post functions that effect the civilian population, such as promoting student and teacher recognition programs like Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen and Outstanding Teacher. Members are encouraged to attend the annual meeting of the Little River Water and Sewerage Company, Inc. in the Conference Room at the Little River Water and Sewerage Office at 2375 Hwy. 111 in Little River on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Current Transitions students conduct successful safety fair

After several months gathering information and preparing their poster boards, the students at Current Transitions conducted a Safety Fair to communicate what they had learned to parents, staff and members of the community. The students selected very diverse topics including fire safety, internet safety, video game safety, food safety, sports injuries and antidepressant-meds.com safety. Chamber holds talent showcase

The Loris Chamber of Commerce held the 8th Annual Talent Show at the Loris High School auditorium on Saturday, Feb.1, at 3 p.m. Miss Loris Bog-Off Festival Queen Logan Knutson and Miss Loris Bog-Off Festival Teen Kaitlyn Courtney were the emcees for the day.  Knutson and Courtney presented the 37 performances of dance, solo dance and singing.  Miss Loris Bog-Off, Carroll Young, was selling tickets for the 50/50 give-away. Municipal Court of Loris hires new clerk

 With a new administration and new mayor and two crucial resignations within the last year the City of Loris is making changes for the better. On Monday, Feb. 3, Keith Massey was at his post ready for training and working with Jenna Winborne to become more familiar with the job. Keith Massey has accepted the position of Clerk of Court for the Municipal Court in Loris.  He has 13 years of experience in law enforcement and has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Business Administration from Columbia College and has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. …

Grievance Committee members announced

Loris City Hall has announced the six member Grievance Committee to include Tonsheka Wilson, Esau Johnson, James Bellamy, Ken Grate, Rick Green and Gwendolyn Gerald. Council approved the committee members at the Tuesday, Jan. 14, city council meeting. The committee consists of a combination of employees of the city and citizens in Loris who have been appointed by the city administrator to volunteer their time to be a part of the committee.
