Junior Glenn Miller, 83, of Loris passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at his home. Mr. Miller was born on Dec. 5, 1936, in Boone, N.C., to the late James Frank Miller and the late Clara Pearl Trivette Miller. Mr. Glenn was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, played the guitar and helped with talent night. He had a passion for gospel music and the mountains. He enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo, and harmonica. Mr. Glenn also spent most of his life working with heavy machinery involved with highway construction. Survivors …

Mrs. Irene Thompkins Cohen, of Myrtle Beach passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Mrs. Cohen was born on September 18, 1927 in Conway, SC, to the late Eddie Samuel Thompkins and the late Beulah Lilly Graham Thompkins and was a longtime member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Joseph “Joe” Horgan, 94, of Myrtle Beach was born in Blackpool, Cork City, Ireland, on July 29, 1925, to Patrick and Elizabeth Horgan.  He immigrated to Canada at the age of 22, and after two years, he came to New York.  Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954 and was the former owner of P.J. Horgan’s Irish Pub in Sunnyside, NY.  In 1970, he married Mary Byrnes.  They were married for 49 years. Eloise Marie Doyle Hunt, 66, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at her home in Loris. She was born on July 28, 1953, in Loris. Mrs. Hunt was a Baptist. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Alma Lee Causey Doyle of Loris; daughter, Megan Spivey of Myrtle Beach; son, Benjamon Adams and wife Briana of Groveland, Fla; two grandchildren, Parker Spivey and Nolan Adams; brother, Doug Doyle of Loris; and sister, Cynthia Clarisse “C.C.” Doyle Sanders of Conway. Beverly Ellen Stiles Faso, affectionately known as “Meem” by her grandchildren and “Bevo” by her family, 82, of Little River passed away at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019. She was born on April 3, 1937, in Cohasset, MA to the late Kenneth Stiles and Ruth Mary LaVange Stiles. Beverly grew up in Melrose, MA, on the ever loved Morgan Street. Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, volunteers attend wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 1,600 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.  During this week hundreds of wreaths were delivered to North Myrtle Beach by David and Michelle West from Kansas. David, a veteran himself, was chosen by E.W. The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board selected an oak tree located at the entrance to The Oaks at Windy Hill as its Tree of the Month for December. Mike and Carolyn Price moved into The Oaks at Windy Hill three and a half years ago. When they purchased their home, they inherited the role of caretaker of a beautiful oak tree at the entrance to their neighborhood. The tree is between 150 and 175 years old. The congregation of St. Stephens Episcopal Church of North Myrtle Beach celebrated their 50th anniversary with a banquet held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Dec. 20, 2019. State Senator Greg Hembree, Hank Thomas, North Myrtle Beach City Council Member, Jim Mezick, Retired Pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church, and several other dignitaries offered congratulatory remarks.
