The North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club presented a check to the McLeod Health Foundation for $500 from monies raised by multiple community fundraisers and events. The donation will directly benefit patients being treated at McLeod Health Loris in Loris and McLeod Health Seacoast in Little River through specialized programs and services. The North Myrtle Beach Republican Club will start the year off with Clark Parker, a candidate for Horry County Auditor, as their speaker. Parker is a CPA and has served on many committees. He is a graduate of Aynor High School and got his BS from Coastal Carolina College. He has served on too many committees to mention. Loris Santa collects 1,800 toys for children
The Loris Santa, Johnny Lee, has had a busy season from Thanksgiving Day until Sunday, Dec. 22. He visited with many children telling him their wishes for toys to be delivered to their home on Christmas Eve. Age does not matter. With his big generous heart he listens to anyone who is able to speak, gives a kind word or a prayer and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas. The Horry County Farm Bureau and local Farm Bureau Insurance agents in Loris are bringing a little more joy to this holiday season by helping those in the community facing hardship. The Loris office presented a $1,000 check to assist a woman who was unable to stay in her home and whose fiancée is now dealing with serious medical issues. Max is a long haired dachshund terrier mix that escaped the back gate of his home in Loris on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019. The Rudelitch family searched for their fur baby and companion for days, for weeks and months with no sign of Max anywhere in the area. Fliers with a picture of Max were placed in local business windows and on bulletin boards, Kimberly drove through the neighborhood placing fliers on doorsteps hoping to receive a response to her plea to bring Max home. On Saturday, Dec. 7, at 8 a.m. children gathered at the Public Safety Building to meet with Santa and eat a hearty breakfast together. To the surprise of the children another special visitor wanted to help with the breakfast, the Grinch came along with Santa. Grayson Technical Apprenticeship Program staff recognized the students graduating the apprenticeship program on Saturday, Dec. 20. This is the fifth graduation ceremony for students to celebrate their accomplishments. Fifteen students graduated and received their certification in one of 12 trades offered, including machine operator, installer servicer, drywall finisher/electrician, construction craft laborer, building inspector (construction) and plumber craft apprentice. Grayson is a company employer sponsored apprenticeship career training program located in Loris. The North Myrtle Beach High School wrestling team won the Low Country Duals last week 4-0 at Waccamaw High School as they beat four teams on their way to the title. The Chiefs began the competition with a 64-12 victory over Marion. The Chiefs first two wrestlers, Jackson Smith (106) and Jacob Moss (113), both won by forfeit. There was no match in the 120- pound class. The next four matches were pins by North Myrtle Beach.
