Angela Gause Brown is a native of Horry County and resides in Little River. She is a 1992 graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School. Angela continued her education at Charleston Southern University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Green Sea Floyds Trojans play-off conference game for the third round match-up against C.E. Murray High School War Eagles is Friday, Nov. 22, with a kick-off time of 7:30 p.m. at GSF Luther Enzor Field. Daisy Elementary School held their Run for Fun annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Loris Nature Park. Teachers, staff members and parent volunteers were present to help encourage the students and to hand out feathers for each lap they completed. Last year the run was held inside the school due to inclement weather, however, this year the weather cooperated and the students were transported by bus to the park. Aaron, age nine, was instrumental in preventing a full house fire when he smelled smoke. He said that he thought he smelled something burning and saw the smoke coming from behind the dryer. He alerted his family and instructed them to crawl on the floor to avoid getting the smoke into their lungs. After calling 911, the family was safely outside of the home awaiting the fire department to come help save their home. The Loris High School annual Powder Puff game was held on Thursday, Nov. 14, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a $5 admission. The game was a fundraiser for the girl’s softball team who is coached by David Smith. In this game roles are reversed with all LHS grade levels participating. For a $20 entry fee young girls play football while young men create the cheering squad. The seniors and sophomores played football against the juniors and freshmen. The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls varsity cross country teams finished in fourth place at last week’s county championship at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. The Chiefs teams ran against seven other teams in the girls competition and nine teams in the boys race. All races were 5K distances. The teams were made up of seven runners per team and race time for each runner was averaged to get team results. The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity football program fell on the road this past Friday night to region foe Hartsville by a final score of 24-8. The Chiefs saw senior quarterback Ramsey Lewis return to his starting role after an early season injury, but weren’t able to capitalize on the opportunity, picking up just 133 total yards on offense.
