Dr. Nicholas Foy Nixon Jr.  of North Myrtle Beach passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at his home in Tilghman Estates. Born at Cherry Grove Beach on June 22, 1931, he was known to all his friends as Sonny.  He was the son of Nicholas Foy Nixon Sr. and Cecelia Watson Nixon.  Surviving are his wife, Betsy Brogden Nixon; his sons, Lawrence Keith Nixon (Lisbeth Cubillan) and Nicholas Foy Nixon III (Beth Connell); grandchildren, Loren Nixon, Sam Moody, Jane Moody and Matthew Nixon; and brothers, Robert W. Daniel Robert Cinq-Mars, 71, of Loris passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at his home. He was born on July 26, 1948 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to the late Robert Irené Cinq-Mars and the late Pauline Madeline Gagne Cinq-Mars. He served his country with honor and courage in the United States Coast Guard for four years during the Vietnam Era. Group participates in prayer walk

On the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 28, a large group of steadfast prayer warriors gathered once again to pray over all students and staff members of various schools in North Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas. The annual gathering began several years ago by Pastor Jon Feld of a powerhouse church. As the procession of vehicles met at Riverside Elementary School the prayers began with raising their hands and 60 plus voices praising our Lord for the protection of all students.
