North Myrtle Beach Postal Carrier Horace Prince Jr. is being recognized for his two outstanding career achievements. Recently he joined the National Safety Council’s prestigious Million Mile Club. To qualify for this honor, an employee must have driven 25,000 hours or one million miles without a preventable motor vehicle accident. He also has over 30 years of service as a North Myrtle Beach Rural Carrier. The city of Loris spotlights employees each month for their hard work and dedication to their job and to the city of Loris. For the month of July four employees were recognized with a certificate of service. Featured this month are Detective Eric Stevens, Crew Leader Sean Bennett and heavy equipment operator Harrison Ravenell. The city of Loris hired an interim city administrator after hours of interviews with the mayor, council members and the city attorney. Dennis Drozdak was introduced at the council meeting after an executive session to discuss personnel issues. Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Brown (Joy) will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 16, 2019. They were married on August 16, 1969, and began serving on the staff of Millbrook Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. the very next month, in September 1969. So literally, this is the 50th anniversary of their “marriage and ministry” together. Dr. Brown served as interim pastor at the First Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach from 2015–2017.
