Peter Joseph Quintano

Peter Joseph Quintano, 99, of Loris passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital. He was born on Nov. 3, 1919, in Bari, Italy, to the late John Joseph Quintano and the late Pauline Carnocchio Quintano. Mr. Quintano served his country with courage, honor and dignity in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he worked as a master butcher in New Jersey where he owned and operated his own butcher shop. He loved the Yankees and the New York Giants, but had a passion for basketball and volunteered as a youth coach for many years. He was a Catholic and will be dearly missed by his wife, family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Mary Margaret Diorio Quintano; three daughters, Barbara Taylor of Green Sea, Cathy VanWagner of Little River and Patty Furrevig of New Jersey; two sons, Michael Quintano and his wife, Carol of Idaho and Peter Quintano Jr. of New Jersey; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Quintano was predeceased by his five loving brothers and sisters.
