Richard Sidney Sellers

Richard Sidney Sellers died peacefully at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Hospice House located in Bolivia, N.C., on July 12, at the age of 65.
Richard is survived by his parents, Earl and Mary Sellers of Little River; his sons, Bryson Sidney Sellers (Jennifer) of Ladson, and Brenton Thomas Sellers (Amanda) of Little River; his sisters, Cindy Causey (Charles) of Longs and Linda Adams (Charlie) of Little River. Richard loved being “Big Daddy” to Jameson, Dylan, Olivia, and James. Of all the titles he was given during his life, “Big Daddy” was the one he cherished. Richard also had several nieces and nephews.
Richard was born on January 22, 1955 in Laurinburg, NC. As a young boy, he and his family moved to Maxton, NC. Upon graduation from high school at Richmond Academy in Rockingham, NC, he then moved with his family to North Myrtle Beach, where he would eventually come back to reside the remainder of his life.
Richard was always involved in sports. He loved playing anything and everything. Baseball, softball, football, basketball and especially golf, even barrel racing his horses; there was nothing he did not enjoy doing with his family and friends. He continued this love of sports as he coached for several years in the NMB Recreation Leagues.
Richard had a love for playing music. In his early teens, he taught himself how to playthe guitar and fell in love with it. He was always writing new songs and would sing them to his family and friends when they came to visit.
Richard always had a yearning to run his own business, and founded SAFEint, a fire and burglar alarm company. He ran SAFEint for the next 20 years, and his customers would often say he never met a stranger and would always have a smile on his face and a joke ready for anyone he encountered.
We will be celebrating Richard’s life on Saturday at Wampee Baptist Church. The family will have a time of visitation at 2:00 with the service beginning at 3:00. All are welcome to attend this celebration. We are requesting that all those who attend wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Hospice.
