Roberta Harris Gerald, 91, of Loris went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. Mrs. Gerald was born on April 24, 1927, in Loris to the late Thurman McKinley Harris and the late Lee Tyler Harris. She was a loving homemaker and a lifelong dedicated member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.
As part of her ministry, she was a part of the adult choir for many years and taught the junior age Sunday school and the senior ladies class. She was the WMU secretary until just recently, the 1981 recipient of the Rural Lady of the Year, Miss Leo G. Knauff Leadership Award and served on the F.H.A. Advisory Committee.
Survivors include her son, Marcus Gerald and wife Julie of Loris; daughter, Wanda Jordan and husband Billy of Loris; four grandchildren, Kip Jordan and wife Joy, and Desiree Jordan Day and husband Brandon, Faith Gerald and Lindsey Gerald; five great-grandchildren, Caleb Jordan, Rachel Jordan, Carrie Jordan, McCallie Day and Hayden Day; one brother, Levon Harris and wife Wilma of Loris; and one sister, Allene Hardee of Loris.
Mrs. Gerald was predeceased by her husband, Lennie Edward Gerald; two brothers, Floyd Harris and Claude Harris; and three sisters, Ila May Harris, Nelda Faye Harris and Ernestine Williams.
Visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 5, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Johnson officiating. Committal services followed at Cane Branch Cemetery.
