Talmadge ‘Chip’ Jacobs Jr.


Talmadge “Chip” Jacobs Jr., 67, of Loris passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Chip was born in Loris, a son of the late Talmadge “Tab” Jacobs Sr. and the late Hazel Manning Jacobs. He was a longtime member of Loris First Baptist Church where he was a past deacon. Chip was a member of Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM and Gideons International, Loris Camp. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Chip was predeceased by one brother, Sammy L. Jacobs, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James B. and Alice S. Roberts, and one brother-in-law, Buddy “Ox” Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Patricia Roberts Jacobs of Loris; one son, Talmadge “Tab” Jacobs III (Shanna) of Loris; five grandchildren, Bentley James Jacobs, Madyson Elizabeth Jacobs, Talmadge Brantley Jacobs, Thomas Grayson Jacobs and Evan Blake Strickland, all of Loris; one sister, Ila V. Whittington of Whiteville, N.C.; one brother, Danny E. Jacobs (Thelma) of Tabor City, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Roberts Smith (Terry) of Loris and Linda Jacobs of Tabor City; one-brother-in-law, Henry Dexter Roberts (Kay) of Loris; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 11, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at Loris First Baptist Church with Dr. Louis Venable and the Rev. Clark Whittington officiating. Burial followed in the Roberts Family Memorial Gardens.
