Tax free weekend approaches

South Carolina has announced dates for the 2019 sales tax holiday weekend.

Shoppers can buy a large variety of back to school items without paying the state’s 6 percent sales tax and many local taxes during the tax free weekend which will begin on Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 4.

Items such as school supplies, computers, clothing, footwear and certain bed and bath items will be tax exempt.

In past years, consumers have saved between two million and three million dollars during the tax free weekend holiday.
