McLeod Loris Seacoast has benefited with the extra help of teen volunteers this summer. These students have been given the opportunity to interact with patients and healthcare professionals to learn firsthand how the McLeod Health system operates.
Some of the volunteer duties include performing clerical support, helping new patients get oriented at the information desk, making deliveries and assisting with special events. Many of these students have an interest in health-related careers. The teen volunteer program gives them an opportunity to experience different departments within the hospital and help them determine a career path.
“McLeod’s summer teen volunteer program allows students to make a difference through their service to our patients and the community,” said Jaime Schwartz, volunteer manager.
McLeod Health teen volunteers must be 14 to 18 years old with at least a B average in school and volunteer at least 20 hours each month during the summer.
