The Rotary Club of Little River is holding its 12th Annual May 5K Charity Run

The Rotary Club of Little River is holding its 12th Annual May 5K Charity Run on the waterfront in Historic Little River on May 11, 2019. This event initially was started by the Blue Crab Festival committee during the 25th Anniversary of the Blue Crab Festival.

Allen Lee, Craig Hill, Dr. Jim Troxell, and Greg and Renee Hembree were the organizers and are still connected to the event. Several years ago, the Rotary Club of Little River assumed the responsibility for the run. Ed Murray of the Rotary Club has chaired the event since.  Proceeds are donated to various charities. The charities selected this year are: United Way (Girl Scouts), YMCA, Rotary’s effort to eradicate Polio and the Grand Strand Running Club Scholarship Fund.

This is an accredited event.  You may sign up online at: www.grandstrandrunner.com and www.drtroxell@gmail.com

It is a walk/run event.  The entry fee for registering online is $ 25.00.  Registration the day of the race is $ 30.00.  Raceday registration begins at 7:00 am in the public parking lot on Mineola Avenue in Little River near the waterfront.  The event begins at 8:00 am.  There are many signs at the registration area and the course is well marked.  The Horry County Sheriff’s Department will provide safety and security for the race. The annual tee shirt commemorating the event will be given to participants along with awards and souvenirs.  Refreshments are also available.

There are many community sponsors that assist the Rotary Club in this endeavor. The Presenting Sponsors this year are: TRUE Personal Training and Fitness, Savannah Smiles (Marty Richardson),  Marlisa’s Bold & Beautiful Wigs For Cancer and The North Strand Senior Center.  Their participation is greatly appreciated.
