Chinese balloon shot down over coast, possible debris brought to shore in North Myrtle Beach

As the entire country was glued to their phones and TVs last week following and charting the path of the Chinese spy balloon, a potential international diplomatic crisis cast a spotlight on the city of North Myrtle Beach and the whole of the Grand Strand as the balloon was shot down by American fighter jets on Saturday, Feb. 4, after it reached the Atlantic Ocean coastline.

Scholarships for local high school seniors open for applications

The South Carolina State Fair, a self-supporting 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is now accepting applications for its 26th annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship program, which awards $300,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors across the Palmetto State each year.

McLeod Health celebrates the opening of new local medical office buildings

McLeod celebrated an open house and ribbon cutting for McLeod Seacoast Medical Park Building 2 on Thursday, Feb. 2. This additional medical office building on the McLeod Health Seacoast campus is located at 3793 McDowell Lane in Little River. Community members had the opportunity to tour the facility and meet the physicians and staff.

Riley Vincent’s senior year of basketball is a dream not realized

Vincent has played on the North Myrtle Beach High School varsity basketball team since she was in the eighth grade. Each year that she played, she progressed in her abilities and eventually became a point guard for the team. She, like most varsity players, had a goal of playing for and winning a state championship.
