Help needed with N95 respirators

As part of its ongoing response to the COVID-19 coronavirus threat, Tidelands Health is issuing an urgent appeal to community residents who can sew. The health system has several thousand new, never-used N95 respirators in its warehouse. The respirators were acquired during a previous public health emergency but never used. While the N95 respirators themselves are in new condition, the elastic straps have become brittle over time. Before the respirators can be made available to clinical staff, the straps need to be replaced. “We are reaching out to our community and asking for your help,” said Pam Maxwell, the health …

Restaurants are heeding to the governor’s mandate

By Annie Rigby The executive order to close schools has disrupted the baseball, softball, tennis, soccer and track practices and games for Loris High School. The Loris Recreation Sports Complex is also following the order; they have postponed practice for softball and baseball. LHS baseball coach Tim Graham has asked the varsity baseball team to go to the batting cages, keep in shape and continue to work on their skills. By Annie Rigby Carolina Food Service (CFS) of Loris is a local and privately owned wholesale business that successfully serves customers in North and South Carolina. Though they are a wholesale distribution company supplying products and brands to the food service industry (restaurants, cafes and bars) they opened their doors to the public on Monday, March 23. Churches getting creative giving Sunday service to congregations

By Annie Rigby On Sunday, March 22, the doors to local churches were closed for all services. Loris First Presbyterian Church (LFPC) and Loris First Baptist Church (FBC) streamlined their services through technology. Ron Barron, youth pastor at LFPC, used Facebook Live to provide the church’s youth with encouragement messages and prayer to continue to serve the Lord. He wants the youth to know that he is available through live broadcasts. City Council approves Declaration of a State of Emergency

The grand opening for Loris Sports Complex Softball tournament was held on Saturday, March 14.
