Green Sea Floyd’s High School Varsity Baseball Team

The Green Sea Floyds High School Varsity baseball team fell short of another state championship Tuesday night when they lost to the McBee High School Panthers by a sscore of 7-3 in the South Carolina Class A Baseball State Champion Series.  The team can be very proud of the Lower State Championship they won with all of their hard work.  Pictured are team members and coaches taken after winning the Lowr State Champion title.

Support Trojans in playoffs

Congratulations to the Green Sea Floyds High School Varsity Softball team on defeating Cross High School Trojans this past week by a score of 21-0 to win the District VIII Championship. The Lady Trojans went on to defeat Palmetto Scholars Academy on Saturday by a score of 23-0 to advance in the playoffs to play the Lake View Lady Wild Gators. The Lady Trojans lost in an away game to the Lady Wild Gators by a score of 11-5 but will play a home playoff game against the Branchville High School Lady Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 …

KAB Kids Junior Garden Club Winners at State Youth Symposium

By Sharon Robinson Three Riverside Elementary School members of the Driftwood Keep America Beautiful (KAB) Kids Junior Garden Club received awards from the Garden Club of South Carolina (GSCS) at the 2019 State Youth Symposium held on April 6 at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia.  Yvette Otero, a fifth grader, won first place for her poster of Smokey Bear “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires”. Eva Campman, a fourth grader, won honorable mention in the same category.  In the Woodsy Owl “Lend a Hand, Care for the Land” poster competition, Kh’ Mya Watts, a fourth grader, won second Place. Monday at the Masters tournament attracts big names

Who would believe what began with a few friends in Columbia would have grown into an annual event that attracts a lot of big names in sports and entertainment? This year‘s event was the 25th celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament. Since 1994 when it all began it has changed the venue several times until they came to North Myrtle Beach. Hootie and the Blowfish, Monday after the Masters is a fundraiser for several charities. The proceeds are used to strengthen schools and improve educational resources for the South Carolina children and South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation providing scholarships to young students …

Loris recreation baseball season will begin today

The Loris recreation department is holding Baseball Opening Day on Thursday, April 4. The opening ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m. On Monday, April 1, Coastal Carolina University mascot Chauncey visited the park during practice for the children to have their pictures made with this special guest. Tom Cocke, director of the recreation center, said, “We have had to change the opening day a couple of times due to rain, we had planned to have the Myrtle Beach Pelicans mascot Splash visit.” Sadly, Splash is not available for Thursday’s game day, but he and Chauncey …

Varsity lacrosse team wins 11-10

The North Myrtle Beach varsity boys lacrosse team topped Carolina Forest 11-10 Monday evening in a thrilling overtime victory. Leading the scoring was Michael Swogger with four goals and an assist. Justin Broder had three goals and an assist. Austin Hite scored twice and had an assist. George Baldwin had a goal and an assist and defenseman Brady LaPrade scored a goal. Holden Rue and Cameron Goldner each had an assist as well. The Chiefs are now 4-7 on the season.

Chiefs baseball team runs region record to 7-0 with win

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs varsity baseball team ran their region record to 7-0 with an exciting 12-7 win over visiting Myrtle Beach at the Chiefs field Monday evening. The Chiefs had beaten the Seahawks 4-2 earlier in the season but Myrtle Beach stayed in the game until the Chiefs scored five runs in the sixth inning to put the game away. Chiefs baseball team wins conference game 4-2 over Hartsville Tuesday night

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs baseball team won a big conference matchup Tuesday evening, beating visiting Hartsville 4-2 at the North Myrtle Beach sports complex. The Chiefs started the evening by throwing out a Hartsville runner at the plate in the first inning as he broke from third while the Chiefs were making a throw to first to complete a strikeout in the dirt. NMB spring sports teams are having a busy season

North Myrtle Beach High School spring sports teams are past the halfway point of their seasons as they continue play this week. Here is a review of recent events and teams and a look ahead. Girls Softball The girls softball team traveled to Wilson High School last Tuesday and lost by a 7-2 score in a conference game. The Lady Chiefs then came back on Wednesday, March 20, with an 11-1 victory over Loris in a non-conference game, aided by two four-run innings in the fourth and sixth. NMB varsity baseball team wins during busy week

The North Myrtle Beach varsity baseball team began a week of games last Tuesday when they traveled to Myrtle Beach and came away with a 4-2 win. The Chiefs then took on their second “rival” team on Wednesday evening as Loris visited the Chiefs sports complex. This game went down to the wire as the Chiefs rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 9-8 win.
