Tidelands Health issues an urgent appeal for volunteer community sewing help

As part of its ongoing response to the COVID-19 coronavirus threat, Tidelands Health is issuing an urgent appeal to community residents who can sew. The health system has several thousand new, never-used N95 respirators in its warehouse. The respirators were acquired during a previous public health emergency but never used. While the N95 respirators themselves are in new condition, the elastic straps have become brittle over time. Before the respirators can be made available to clinical staff, the straps need to be replaced. “We are reaching out to our community and asking for your help,” said Pam Maxwell, the health …

City buildings closed to public, services continue

By Pat Dowling On Monday, March 23, all City of North Myrtle Beach buildings closed to entry by the public until further notice. However, all city employees report to work as usual and all city services continue according to their regular schedules. Police, Fire/Rescue, Sanitation, Water and Sewer and all other city services are provided as usual, the only difference being that all city buildings are closed to entry by the public. NMB Chamber earns 5-Star accreditation

City Council adopted emergency ordinance, declaration last Monday

By Pat Dowling During their regularly scheduled March 16, 7 p.m. meeting, the North Myrtle Beach City Council adopted an emergency ordinance and an emergency declaration. Just as the city adopts emergency ordinances and declarations for hurricanes, this declaration positions the city to be able to respond to COVID-19 related issues as they may arise locally. It also positions the city to qualify for state or federal reimbursements that may be provided to help reduce the impact that COVID-19 related expenditures may have on the city’s budget. Tree City Board selects March Tree of Month
