Luncheon Held For Volunteers of McLeod Health Loris and McLeod Seacoast Hospitals

A volunteer luncheon was held on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach to recognize the many hours of work, time and talents of those who make a difference to the patients, families and staff at McLeod Health Loris and McLeod Health Seacoast hospitals. McLeod Loris Seacoast has over 90 active volunteers contributing their time throughout the hospitals. In 2019, volunteers at McLeod Loris and McLeod Seacoast provided 19,704 hours of time working in almost every facet of the organization including the gift shops, information desk, transportation, hospitality carts, surgical waiting areas, physical …

Santa visits children at Loris Library to read story

Santa Claus visited the Loris Library on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. to read a storybook to children visiting the library. Children ages three and four from Grace Christian Academy and a few toddlers visited with Santa to listen to him read “Twas the Nigh Before Christmas”. Each child patiently listened to him go through the routine of reading and showing the pictures in the book. When Santa finished the story the children each took turns sitting on his lap giving him a list of toys they want for Christmas. Two little boys asked for dirt bikes, Santa asked, …

North Myrtle Beach City Council has busy meeting

Prior to the December 2 meeting, City Council met in a 6:45 p.m. executive session to consider a potential contract between the city and Beam and Associates. Council took no action. City Councilmen J.O. Baldwin, Fred Coyne and Hank Thomas, all successful in their reelection bids during the City’s November 5 general election, took their oaths of office to serve new four-year terms on City Council. The 35th Intracoastal Christmas Regatta parades down waterway

The 35th annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta had a record 35 boats parading by thousands of spectators last Saturday evening from the Little River Inlet to Dock Holidays Marina in North Myrtle Beach. After a mild Saturday punctuated by the Clemson-South Carolina football game early in the day, fans, residents and visitors gathered at marinas, restaurants, boat ramps or wherever they could get a good view of the colorful boats decorated for the Christmas season. The Rotary Club of Little River

The Rotary Club of Little River sponsors an Interact Club at North Myrtle Beach Christian School. Tree City Board presents Tree of Month Award

The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board has selected a Live Oak on the property of Rayford and Karen Vereen for its Tree of the Month Award for November. On Jan. 1, 1970, the Vereens set up residence on a one-acre lot off the beaten path between 11th and 8th Avenues North and between Merrill Place and Hillside Drive. Their house, which is constructed of recycled brick from a warehouse in Fairmont, N.C., is positioned to save a grove of Live Oaks, including the November Tree of the Month. The Coastal Shag Club is announcing the cruise winner as Judith “Judy” Hardee of a raffle for a five day cruise for two. She departs on her balcony cruise on the Carnival Sunshine out of Charleston in January. The Charity Raffle was sponsored by the Coastal Shag Club based in Calabash, N.C., and all proceeds go to a West Brunswick County High School student studying dance and Uplink.
