The public is invited to enjoy a free concert featuring The Tonez on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Horseshoe on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. Concert-goers can expect an incredible variety of music.  Patrons and concert-goers are encouraged to bring their beach chairs. The free concert is part of the North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation Department’s Music on Main summer concert series sponsored by CCNB (Coastal Carolina National Bank).

Mega-Adoption is this weekend

The Grand Strand’s first-ever mega-pet-adoption event, “Furricane Party,” will take place Aug. 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The event will feature 300 cats and dogs available for adoption from 12 local animal shelters and rescue groups – the largest adoption event in a single space in our area’s history. The event is sponsored by Petco Foundation and hosted by Saint Frances Animal Center; The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach; Grand Strand Humane Society; and Horry County Animal Care Center. DSS warns public of phishing scam

The South Carolina Department of Social Services  (DSS) recently learned of possible phishing scams in an attempt to acquire personal identifying information from individuals perceived to be recipients of federal benefit programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).  It has been reported these scams may include threatening people with an arrest.  DSS has reported these possible phishing scams to the proper authorities and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.  In some situations, DSS employees may request South Carolina residents to confirm personal information over the phone.  DSS staff will never threaten …

Postal carrier Prince receives prestigious Million Mile Award

North Myrtle Beach Postal Carrier Horace Prince Jr. is being recognized for his two outstanding career achievements. Recently he joined the National Safety Council’s prestigious Million Mile Club. To qualify for this honor, an employee must have driven 25,000 hours or one million miles without a preventable motor vehicle accident. He also has over 30 years of service as a North Myrtle Beach Rural Carrier. Postmaster Trena Wilson presented the award to Prince thanking him for the safety performance that led him to this achievement. Former InterPastor and Wife Celebrate Fifty Years Of Marriage and Ministry

Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Brown (Joy) will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 16, 2019. They were married on August 16, 1969, and began serving on the staff of Millbrook Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. the very next month, in September 1969. So literally, this is the 50th anniversary of their “marriage and ministry” together. Dr. Brown served as interim pastor at the First Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach from 2015–2017.
