Strawderman accomplishes many goals at NMBHS

North Myrtle Beach High School Principal Trevor Stawderman will be moving from North Myrtle Beach High School this coming school year. Strawderman will be going to the Charleston County School District where he will be serving as an executive director under superintendent Gerrita Postlewait. Postlewait is a former superintendent of schools in Horry County. Strawderman has been influential in the North Myrtle Beach community and his absence will be sorely missed. North Myrtle Beach Children Recognized

Four North Myrtle Beach school children were recognized at the state American Legion Auxiliary convention last Saturday for their first place essays on the topic of Veteran Homelessness. They were all sponsored by Little River ALA Post #186. Students were: Cassie Difloure, Sienna Cooper, Lillian Freeman and Ean Bane. Post Delegates were: Rachel Culp, Bette McMoreow and Chris McCreavy.

Painted Man performs tonight in free concert

The public is invited to enjoy a free concert featuring Painted Man on Thursday, June 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Horseshoe on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.  Concert-goers can expect an incredible show of R&B, Soul and dance hits. On Tuesday, May 14, while parked in the Food Lion parking lot by the intersection of Sea Mountain and Hwy 9 at approximately 6:50 pm Lou escaped from the vehicle and ran around the grocery store. She was last seen near the small neighborhood behind the Food Lion shopping center in Little River. A cash reward is being offered for the safe return of Lou! Celebrate National Garden Club Week

The public is invited to a Bee-Keeping Program sponsored by Yaupon Garden Club at the North Myrtle Beach Library on Monday, June 3, at 11 a.m.  The club is also extending an invitation for the public to attend a Floral Cake Design Demonstration at the North Myrtle Beach Library on Wednesday, June 5, at 2 p.m.  These two events are free to the public. Tidelands Health holds grand opening celebration

A presentation and ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, a freestanding, 46-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, was held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at 100 Water Grande Blvd. in Little River (located within the Bridgewater Community). Remarks were delivered by Carey Swanson, CEO of Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital; Bruce Bailey, president and CEO, Tidelands Health; Mark Tarr, president and CEO, Encompass Health Corp.; Catherine Behanna, former patient; and J. Freeman Receives President’s Volunteer Service Award

Lillian Freeman, 16, of Little River, a student at North Myrtle Beach High School, has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program. Principal Trevor Strawderman nominated Lillian for national honors this fall in recognition of her volunteer service.
