Columbiettes Welcome New Members

The Columbiettes of Our Lady Star of the Sea Auxiliary #7122 welcomed four new members at an installation ceremony on May 23 at Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach. From church new members are Patty Nyikos, Sharon Hawk, Silvia Murrieta-Goldberg and Nancy Terrell. District Deputy Doris Couldron and President Ann Bauco welcomed them. The Columbiettes, the Catholic women’s auxiliary, is dedicated to helping the OLSS Knights of Columbus, the church and the community. The Columbiettes help the Knights serve their monthly, every first Tuesday,  pasta dinner open to the community as well as supporting local community …

Budget retreat held last Saturday

The annual budget retreat meeting was held on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the Public Safety Building.  Present at the meeting were Joan Gause, Kenya Wright, Lewis Hardee, Todd Harrelson, Brandon Harrelson and Damon Kempski.  Not present were Terrence Hardee and Jan Vescovi. The 2019-20 budget considerations and requests have been analyzed and was presented for discussion with a deadline date of July 1 for presentation for the city council’s final approval for the fiscal year of 2019-20. Tonight Tim Clark Band performs in a free concert.

The public is invited to enjoy a free concert featuring The Tim Clark Band on Thursday, May 23, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Horseshoe in North Myrtle Beach.  Concert-goers can expect an incredible variety of hits. City manager recognizes employees for work

During the May 20 North Myrtle Beach City Council meeting, City Planner Dawn Snider was named Employee of the Month. Dawn joined the City in February 2001 as a planning technician and now works as a planner in the planning and development department. She also assists the city clerk with City Council meeting packets, meetings and meeting minutes. She is always willing to help, while also accomplishing her planning duties with excellence. Park North Myrtle Beach program starts June 15

The city of North Myrtle Beach is growing and with growth has come unprecedented demand for public parking opportunities, especially at the beach. The Park North Myrtle Beach program seeks to formalize public parking opportunities along the city’s nine miles of ocean beach by introducing paid parking in public parking lots on either side of Ocean Boulevard June 15-October 31, 9 a.m. – 5p.m. daily with a parking fee of $2 per hour. Ceremony inducts 104 students into honor society

The North Myrtle Beach National Honor Society inducted 104 students into the National Honor Society and recognized 66 seniors last Wednesday night. Earning membership in the National Honor Society is the highest academic honor a student can receive. Students must be rising juniors or seniors and are invited into the society based on their competitive grade point average, academic intergrity and approval by the faculty council. The 36th Annual Living Legends Association met May 17–18 at Fat Harold’s Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach. Friday, May 17, was social night for Living Legend members, nominees and guests.  Bayles Mack, Living Legends Board Member, welcomed the great crowd to kick off the night.  Lulu Quick and Jack Rainwater, both Living Legend members, prepared the great appetizers for all to enjoy. Schroll enters Lions Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to PDG Marion Schroll, a member of the Little River Lions Club. He has been nominated and duly elected to the South Carolina Hall of Fame.  His name has been entered into the permanent book of the Hall of Fame which will be kept forever in the archives at the Lions Building in Columbia. A plaque was presented to him by Past District Governor Randy Edwards.

The city of North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation is excited to kick off their annual Summer Concert Series events.  The popular events, Music On Main and Sounds of Summer, begin this week.  Each concert is scheduled from 7 until 9 p.m. and is free to the public and features a variety of bands.
