15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson released an extensive report from SLED. The report fully exonerates Horry County Council Chairman Johnny Gardner and his business partner, Luke Barefoot. County Council Chairman Gardner won the popular vote last November with over 80,000 votes cast. Gardner’s integrity in Horry County is beyond question. His popularity among residents only grows with the release of this report, coupled with the manner in which the chairman comported himself throughout the process.

The South Carolina Conservation Bank has awarded the city of North Myrtle Beach $510,000 for Ingram Dunes. The grant, along with money pledged by the city and citizen contributions, will be used toward the purchase of a historic 9.4 acre site in the heart of the city, known to locals as Ingram Dunes. This is the first award from the South Carolina Conservation Bank in Horry County since 2005. It is a very exciting and monumental time for North Myrtle Beach and all of Horry County. The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach held the 2nd Annual Macaroni Mania Event, benefiting the agency’s building fund, on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. The event featured a macaroni cook-off between area restaurants in which the winner of the cook-off was awarded $500 in cash. The North Myrtle Beach Historical Preservation Society enjoyed a fun day at the 6th Annual Surfrider Oyster Roast and Bloody Mary Contest. The North Myrtle Beach Historical Preservation Society attended and gave away nesting houses, bird feeders and seed bombs for donations. The efforts were to continue to support the saving of Ingram Dunes. The preservation of this historic piece of land is the first major project for the group. The North Myrtle Beach Tree City Board has selected an oak tree located at Trinity United Methodist Church, at 706 14th Avenue South as its Tree of the Month for February. Those familiar with the tree’s history say it was planted in 1976 in memory of Jim Taibi, who passed away on June 2, 1976. Pastor Reverend William Williams, now a Methodist Bishop, presided over the ceremony and North Myrtle Beach gardener Jane McDaniel supervised the planting.
