Former Maryland resident, John Allen Bennett, 79, of Little River died on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, in Florence.  Due to the pandemic, a private viewing will be held at his request for his wife, children and grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so, at his home in Little River. John was born on Sept. 7, 1941, in Lansing, N.C. to Noah and Odell Bennett. Lenore Schiavelli, 72, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, after a brief illness.  She was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Mildred Davis. Born and raised in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y., she graduated with honors from  New York State University at Oneonta, N.Y.  Lenore was retired from her career as municipal clerk of the City of Englewood, N.J. Thomas Boski, 65, of Little River passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, with his wife Paula by his side. Born in Hoboken, N.J., he was the son of the late Victor Boski and Catherine Boski.  He was predeceased by his brother, Michael. Thomas lived in Old Bridge, N.J., for most of his life, working for the Old Bridge DPW for 35 years until retiring in 2010 and moving to Little River.  He had an infectious personality and was kind and considerate to all he met along the way. Bennie Willard Green Jr., 58, of Loris passed away at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. Born and raised in Loris, he was predeceased by his parents, Bennie W. and Gennive Green. He attended Loris High School and was employed by the Golden Griddle Pancake House in North Myrtle Beach.  In his last days, he accepted the Lord as his personal savior.   Bennie is survived by his brothers, James Ray and Willie Joe Green; and sister, Fostine Jackson.  He leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.  Bennie will be remembered as a loving brother …

Everett Coleman “Buddy” Deal Jr. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus surrounded by his two loving sons. He was a lifelong North Carolinian born in Concord to the late Everett Coleman Deal Sr. and Ivoyne Whisnant Deal on March 16, 1948. A proud Concord Spider, Buddy excelled in many sports, but it was his talent in football that earned him a scholarship to play at Catawba College. David Zakett, 64, of North Myrtle Beach passed away at Grand Strand Hospital on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, of complications from Ventricular Tachycardia. David was born on April 15, 1956, in Tarrytown, New York. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1974. David was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Mary T. John Francis Phalen, 87, of Little River unexpectedly passed away on Oct. 19, 2020.  John was born June 19, 1933, to Paul and Lorna (Leonard) Phalen of Rossie, N.Y.  He was the oldest of six children. John graduated from Mohawk Central School  Mohawk, N.Y. in 1952. Soon after he joined the Navy where he was honorably discharged and returned home to Mohawk, N.Y., to help his mother raise his five siblings after his father passed away. Harry W. Coppersmith Jr., 78, of Little River/Carolina Shores, N.C., died on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020. Born on April 20, 1942, in Shiloh, N.C., he was the son of Harry Coppersmith and Nellie Mae Owens Coppersmith. Harry spent over two years with the US Air Force. While living in Maryland, he retired from Verizon Communication. He then moved to the Carolina Shores/Little River area to enjoy the weather and play golf.
