Joan L. McPhillips of Brandywine Drive, Lafayette Park, Little River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, after a brief illness.   Born in 1934 in Providence, she was the daughter of Andrew and Marion (Martin) Davidson (deceased).  She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John “Jack” C. Gary Andrew Marschke, 72, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home in Longs. Born on Oct. 31, 1947 in Mount Kisco, N.Y., he was the son of the late Richard and Hazel Marschke. He grew up and spent many years in Baltimore. He was an avid golfer, which brought him to South Carolina in his later years. Mr. Marschke is survived by his children, David Marschke and Beth Ozazewski (Christopher); brother, Donald Marschke; sister, Dawn Schafer;  two grandchildren, Ava and Alexandra Ozazewski; and partner, Myrna MacSweyn.  He was predeceased by one grandson, Matthew Austin Marschke. …

Bruce Duvall Gaskins, 71, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020, at his home in Loris. Mr. Gaskins was born on Dec. 31, 1948, in Wilmington, N.C., to the late Erusie Gaskins and the late Pauline Cox Gaskins.  He served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Gaskins retired as a truck driver and was a member of Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church. In his spare time he loved golfing, fishing, horseback riding and riding his motorcycle. Deanna Marie Smith, 43, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020. She was born on April 5, 1977, in Horry County, the daughter of the late Keith and Eva Isabell Lewis. She grew up in the Little River Neck section of Horry County and attended North Myrtle Beach High School. Deanna worked for Cracker Barrel in North Myrtle Beach and various other jobs in the food industry in other states she lived in. James Edward Smith, 83, of Little River died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Sept. 15, 1936, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late James C. and Bertha Benesch Smith. Mr. Smith served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Peggy Harrelson Clemons, 87, of Green Sea went to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, after an extended illness. Mrs. Clemons was born on Dec. 18, 1932, in Loris to the late Harmon Quincy Harrelson and the late Minnie Pridgen Harrelson. She was a member of Green Sea Baptist Church for 57 years and currently a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Loris. She was a seamstress prior to her retirement after 25 years with Tabor Products. June Phoebe Ballengee Stacy, 91, of Longs was embraced by the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2020. She was a caring sister, a devoted wife and a mother. Cynthia M. Hawthorne, 73, of Little River died on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on Nov. 7, 1946, in Henderson, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Griffin Moss. She was a retired sixth grade teacher and a college professor.
