Kenneth Wesley Adkins, 93, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at his home in Florence.  Mr. Adkins was born on Dec. 30, 1926, in Sarcoxie, Mo., to the late Edison G. Adkins and the late Inez Capitola White Adkins. He served his country with courage, honor and dignity in the United States Navy during World War II. After World War II, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in both Vietnam and Korea retiring with over 24 years of distinguished service. Glen M. Galezewski, 61, of Longs died on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on July 15, 1958, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of Lawrence and Rose Hoffmeier Galezewski. Glen served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of Little River VFW Post 10804. Glen is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jane Danielsen Galezewski; two sons, Michael and Alex; three brothers, Jack, Jim and Rob; and one special nephew, Brian. Jerry “Jay” Boyd of Loris,  37,  passed  away  on Monday, April 6, 2020, at his residence.  Jay was born on Nov. 9, 1982 in Loris.  He enjoyed music, art, shooting pool and especially spending time with his daughter.  Jay was predeceased by  his mother, Sallie McCormick Boyd, his grandparents, Kelly and Agnes McCormick, and two uncles, Donald Larry McCormick Sr. and Charles McCormick. Maurice “Marty” Lacey, born on July 16, 1937, in New York, N.Y., passed peacefully at his home in North Myrtle Beach surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. He was born and raised in New York, N.Y., to Maurice and Mary Supple Lacey. A true patriot, Marty enlisted and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Honorably discharged, Marty, ever the warrior, joined the ranks of the fire department of New York (FDNY). Sheila Reid Dewey, 53 of North Myrtle Beach went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2020, at McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Born on Nov. 28, 1966, in Catawba County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Wilbern and Violet Davis Reid.  She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister.  Her granddaughters were her life.  She fought a courageous battle with breast cancer to the end. Mitchell Edward Batten, 73, of North Myrtle Beach passed away at his home on Thursday, April 9, 2020. The son of the late Carlie and Elbie Tysinger Batten, he was born on March 16, 1947, in Troy, N.C. Mitchell was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Robert Clyde McCord Jr. of Conway died on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Conway Medical Center from complications associated with COVID-19. Mr. McCord was born on Jan. 26, 1937, a son of the late Robert Clyde McCord Sr. and Mary Akins McCord. He was born and grew up in the Oakdale Community of Mecklenburg County, N.C. His daddy bought him his first car, an old four-door sedan, when Robert was 12 years old. He soon removed the back seat so he could haul goats and calves.
