Elizabeth “Beth” Ivey Tyson Manos, 55, of Longs passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019.  Born in Greenville, N.C., she was a daughter of James E. “T-Bird” Tyson and Jim Churchwell and the late Sylvia Johnson Churchwell.  Beth was the wife of 20 years to Dan Manos. She had a love of the ocean and the sun.  Beth had a tender heart for animals and loved her dogs.  She was always seen dressed to the nines and a smile on her face.  Beth was a wonderful cook and her rum cakes were true to their description and everyone loved them.  …

 Joshia Perdee “J.P.” Blanton, 88, of Loris passed away on Sunday,  Aug. 4, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital in Loris. Mr. Blanton was born on Feb. 12, 1931 in Loris, to the late Samuel Overson Blanton and the late Matha Skipper Blanton. Mr. Blanton served his country with honor and courage during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He went on to work as the owner and operator of J.P. and Son Garage from 1973 to 1993 and ran his own sawmill for the past 20 years. Ronald “Bubba” Whetstone, 75, of Loris passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Mr. Whetstone was born in Charlotte, N.C., a son of the late Charles C. and Eva B. Whetstone.  He was a member and Sunday School teacher at Liberty Baptist Church.  Mr. Whetstone was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He was a volunteer at Agape in Conway and retired from K & W Cafeteria after 25 years of service.  Mr. Whetstone loved reading his Bible.  He was predeceased by one daughter, Lynn Whetstone; three brothers, Laddie Whetstone, Charles Whetstone and Jimmy Whetstone; and one …

John R. Cunningham Jr. of Tabor City, N.C., went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 26, 2019. Mr. John was born in Altoona, Pa., a son of the late John R. Cunningham Sr. and the late Grace Cunningham. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He worked with Ward Trucking Corporation for 29 years as a supervisor and retired as a maintenance supervisor with DTH Management. Joanna Kenney Causey, 52, of Conway passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019, at her home following a sudden illness. Born on Feb. 27, 1967, in Front Royal, Va., she was the daughter of Mary Jenkins Kenney of Conway and the late Carroll Willington Kenney. Jerry Wayne Cox of Longs was born to Fannie Virginia Prince and Dayton Paul Cox of Longs on Feb. 8, 1954. He passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019, after a short illness at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Jerry attended Loris High School, graduating in 1972. He then attended Francis Marion University, graduating with a degree in business administration in 1976.
