NMB girls golf team wins region 6AAAA championship

The North Myrtle Beach High School girls golf team won the 6AAAA region golf championship last week with a one stroke victory over Myrtle Beach. The Chiefs scored 388 to nudge out Myrtle Beach with a 389. Hartsville was third with 429 and Darlington took fourth with 495. The Lady Chiefs were led by sophomore Cara Hilburn with a round of 82. Seventh grade sister Sydney Hilburn shot a 99, junior Savannah Jordan shot 100 and Kalynn Basehoar had a 107. The Little Lions take on Aynor Blue Jackets

The Loris Recreation football season began on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10:15 a.m. with the Little Lions roaring onto the field to take on the Aynor Blue Jackets.  The Little Lions cheerleaders are on the sidelines with pom poms in hand, sporting their uniforms and cheering for the team as the crowd gathered to watch the game. Panthers defeat Lions

The Loris Varsity Football welcomed the Carolina Forest Panthers to Loris this past Friday night. The 10th ranked Panthers were more than the Lions could handle. Swimmers compete in six team meet

The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls swim teams joined five other teams competing last Friday at the NMB Aquatic and Fitness Center. The Chiefs squads joined teams from Carolina Forest, St. James, Socastee, Waccamaw and Conway in many individual and relay events. The NMB girls finished second and the boys hung on to finish in third place. NMB Lady Chiefs varsity volleyball team remains undefeated in conference

The Lady Chiefs volleyball team continued their winning ways in 6AAAA conference play with a 3-0 win over Darlington last Thursday at the Chiefs gym. The Chiefs continued their excellent play last Saturday with a second place finish in the Wildcat Invitational Tournament in Lexington. The Lady Chiefs win over Darlington was highlighted by, as coach Alex Sing put it, “a combination of great serving and near flawless attacking” as they overwhelmed the visiting team. NMB varsity girls tennis team wins 4-3 over Darlington last Thursday at home courts

The North Myrtle Beach High School Lady Chiefs varsity tennis team returned home and won a 4-3 match against visiting Darlington. The Chiefs won three singles matches and split two doubles matches for the win. Coach Jason Tester was especially happy and proud of his number one singles player Rachel Grove. “She played Ella Watford and played through a tough shoulder injury to win the match 6-2, 6-4. Green Sea Floyds Trojans and the Loris Lions faceoff

The Green Sea Floyds Trojans and the Loris Lions faced off on Friday, Sept. 13, at the first Loris Bog-Off Bowl.  It was a tight game with a final score of 28-27 with GSF winning the Bog-Off Bowl trophy. Each team member received a T-shirt from the Loris Chamber of Commerce. Varsity volleyball returns to net with two wins

The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity volleyball team returned to action last week after Hurricane Dorian visited the area. The Lady Chiefs began the week with a win over Carolina Forest at their home gym.  North Myrtle Beach won 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-21). Powder Puff Game is tonight

The North Myrtle Beach High School National Honor Society would like to announce the annual Powder Puff Game. This game is, for the first time, being played as part of the Homecoming Week festivities. The game will be played on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. The game will be played between the junior and senior girls and will feature male cheerleaders from both the Class of 2020 and 2021. Shellfish season set to open Sept. 28

The 2019-20 season for recreational harvest of shellfish (clams and oysters) in coastal waters of South Carolina will open one-half hour before official sunrise on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. The recreational shellfish season will remain open through May 15, 2020, unless conditions warrant extending or shortening the season. In the event of another hurricane, major rain event or pollution spill, shellfish beds may be temporarily closed by the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC).
