Valentine’s Dance held at The State Theater in Loris

By SAMANTHA BOYD

It was a magical night last Saturday during a very special father/daughter, mother/son dance in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

The event was hosted by the Loris Chamber of Commerce and the City of Loris at the newly renovated state theater, located at 4149 Main St in Loris. While the state theater had its heyday back when movie tickets cost about 50 cents and used to be a place that would draw people to Loris. Now families can once again gather to see how the Loris Historical Society is renovating the theater to showcase Loris’ history.

Rome and Jennifer Prince attended the Valentine’s Dance last Saturday night, Feb. 11, with their four children all jazzed up for the event. When asked, Jennifer Prince said, “Rome received his festive jacket for Christmas.” Photos by Samantha Boyd

Love was in the air, as families gathered for the evening to dance and share their unconditional love for one another. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and desserts made by Ms Sherrie Keen of Mattie Jane’s Bakery, that will be opening a location of its own very soon in downtown Loris. Music was provided by Banana Jack Murphy. Mayor Todd Harrelson, and his family also attended the event.

The crowd got bigger as the night went on, kids of all ages with their parents seemed to be enjoying themselves thoroughly. While the vibe was filled with laughter and love, it was clear this Valentine’s celebration was a hit with the community and something for families of Loris to remember for a lifetime.
