Vernelle F. Harrelson, 91, of Tabor City, N.C., passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
Born on May 25, 1927, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Allene Hardwick Faircloth. Mrs. Harrelson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and being outdoors. She was a devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord. Mrs. Harrelson was easy going and had a kind heart. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Freddie Triplett and Rachelle Resca, and three brothers, Lorentus, Horace and Wendell Faircloth.
Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Dorris D. Harrelson of Tabor City; one son, Myron D. Harrelson Sr. of Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Barbara Bender (David) of Loganville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Chris and Scott Bender of Buckhead, Ga., and Myron “Mike” Harrelson Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Mia Harrelson; one brother, Larry Faircloth of Tabor City; two sisters, Betty C. Stocks (Wayne) of Loris and Sharon Todd (Harris) of Longs.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating.
The family received friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
