Veterans are Paid Tribute During Special Ceremony

On Monday, Nov. 12, Little River American Legion Post 186 and North Myrtle Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 paid tribute to military veterans at the Veterans Memorial at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The event was attended by about 150 current and former military members and guests. Master of ceremonies was James Cirulli, Post 186 Commander. Vietnam War, Prisoner of War Al Agnew was the guest speaker.

Activities included a flag-roll-in by Rolling Thunder and Legion Riders Grand Strand Chapter 3, patriotic songs, presenting of service flags, presentation of wreaths, a 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps.

After the ceremony a free lunch was provided by VFW Post 10804 at the post building in Little River.

Commanders Cirulli and Camera wish to thank special guests North Myrtle Beach Mayor Marilyn Hatley; Bette McMorrow, American Legion Auxiliary District 14 President; Knights of Columbus Assembly 2431 of Our Lady Star of the Sea; Jan Owens, National President of VFW Auxiliary; North Myrtle Beach Councilman Bob Cavanaugh; and Richard Hubbell, American Legion Color Guard; the American Legion Chaplain William Stewart; and VFW Chaplain Bob Wasden, and American Legion Color Guard. Special thanks to Al Agnew for relating some of what he and other POW’S went through in Vietnam. Also a special thanks to the North Myrtle Beach Parks Department for the very special light presentation they provided for this event.
