Wilbur Kelly Arnette

Wilbur Kelly Arnette, 82, of Loris passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville, N.C., following an illness. Mr. Arnette was born on March 20, 1937, in Conway to the late Van John Arnette and the late Alice Williams Arnette. Mr. Arnette served his country with honor and courage in the United States Army. He was a longtime active member of Loris First Baptist Church.

Mr. Arnette was the manager of Merita Bread Company for thirty-five years. He was a Master Mason loyal member of Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM, the Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston and the Omar Temple of Charleston.

Survivors include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Donna Ann Shelley Arnette; his son, David Arnette and wife Linda of Loris; his daughter, Kelly Holmes and her husband Larry of Loris; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and his God child, Kim Mills of Little River.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnette was predeceased by his three brothers, Jerry Bryant Arnette, John Wayne Arnette and Van Jan “Pee Wee” Arnette.

Visitation was held on Monday, Sept. 2, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Hill and Mike Blanton officiating. Committal services followed at Princeville Cemetery in Loris.
