GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club will once again host an evening to benefit local charities on Thursday, April 2, at 5:30 p.m. at the Marina Inn Grande Dunes. The club is excited to have Martin Heat and Air returning as this year’s title sponsor. Martin Heat and Air installs and services heating and air conditioning systems throughout Horry County.
“This is our eighth year and time flies when you’re doing Purses! This is real girl power working in conjunction with community support. It’s amazing to think that considering all previous seven years, we have probably raised between $325,000 and $350,000 for local charities. Our event is a lot of fun. We have a live auction where handsome local male models showcase designer handbags contributed by celebrities and women in our community. There is also a large and excellent silent auction. The top tier sponsors this year include Elliott Realty, Touch Med Spa, CENTURY 21 Thomas, Coastal Carolina National Bank and Marlisa’s Wig Studio and Day Spa,” reported event chairperson Jeri McCumbee.
The club contributes to local charities such as North Strand Housing Shelter, Helping Hands, Girl Scouts, the Center for Women and Children, Sea Haven and Teen Angel. The club also awards several $1,000 scholarships to North Myrtle Beach High School students each year.
This year the club is allocating a portion of monies raised to the Carolina Music in the Park fundraiser in October to benefit the construction of a domestic violence shelter. “We hope everyone will come out, have some fun and help us raise monies for needed charities. We still have lower level sponsorships available. It’s not too late to get on the sponsorship bandwagon”, McCumbee added.
