Dayton Vaughan Altman, 60, of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center, Brunswick House, in Bolivia, N.C., after an extended illness.
Dayton was born on April 4, 1959, in Ft. Benning, Ga., to the late Eugene Ray Altman Sr. and Patricia Lulie Vaughan Altman. He was a master boat repairman and electronics installer by trade. His love of the water and boating led him to obtain his Captains License known as a “Six Pack License.” Dayton enjoyed sailing and his life-long dream was to sail his boat, “Typhoon”, to Bermuda. His illness prevented the trip, but now he is sailing forever.
Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Cathy Thomas Altman; a son, Thomas Altman and fiancé Taylor LeGette of North Myrtle Beach; and his only grandson whom he loved very much, Gibson Altman; a brother, Eugene Ray Altman, Jr. and wife Sharon of North Charleston; and a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial services are not being planned due to health concerns for our friends and family. His wife Cathy will respond to messages and condolences on her Facebook page.
The family requests with gratitude any monetary donations be made to the “Gibson Altman Education Fund” at P.O. Box 3245, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29582.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.fulwoodfuneralservice.com.
