Saundra ‘Sandy’ Regan

Saundra “Sandy” Regan, 70, of North Myrtle Beach passed away peacefully with her loving family at her bedside on Thursday, March 26, 2020, after a long illness. She was born on Feb. 12, 1950.

Saundra is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tim Regan; her son, Adam, who was her pride and joy; her sisters and spouses, Myra and Wolfgang Schindler, Claudette Canter and Tom Dytrych and Paulette and Brian Barnett; and sister-in-law and spouse, Anne and Don Evans. She had four nieces, Jill Evans, Lynn Barrett, Amanda Schubert and Blaire Barnett (deceased); and three nephews, Jeff Evans, Shaun Canter and Andrew Barnett.

Saundra attended Hopewell High in Virginia for three years then graduated from James Blair High School in Williamsburg, Va. From there she decided to pursue her real love, nursing, at the Petersburg School of Nursing. In 1972, she graduated, passed her boards and became an RN. Her first position was in the EENT Clinic at the 130th General Hospital in Nurnberg, Germany, where her husband was stationed. Upon returning home (Tim’s) to Paramus, N.J., she began her work at Englewood Hospital where she spent the next 32 years in the E.R., Radiology and Cardiac Cath Labs. She then took a position at Loris Hospital in Loris where she planned, supervised construction and staffed the new Cath Lab. During her sixth year, she suffered kidney failure and was forced to retire. It was then that she met her two friends that would be at her side throughout her recuperation and were there for the rest of her life. They are George and Gracie, adopted ginger tabbys, whom she loved. She had some wonderful family and special friends whom she loved dearly. She wanted to thank them for being in her life and for all the love and laughter they brought.

Due to the current medical situation, a memorial service will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Saundra has requested any donations be made to the Horry County Rescue Squad or The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
