James Edward Smith, 83, of Little River died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Sept. 15, 1936, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late James C. and Bertha Benesch Smith.
Mr. Smith served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sonia Navitski Smith; two sons, Gregory Smith and Christopher Smith; one daughter, Denise Leubecker; one sister, JoAnne Morton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey Smith.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
