Joan L. McPhillips

Joan L. McPhillips of Brandywine Drive, Lafayette Park, Little River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, after a brief illness.  

Born in 1934 in Providence, she was the daughter of Andrew and Marion (Martin) Davidson (deceased). 

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John “Jack” C. McPhillips Sr.  

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Fran Maycock) McPhillips of Little River and Cotuit, Ma., Carol (Ron) Andrews of Longs, Cathy (Ernie) Jarbeau of Johnston, and John “Jake” McPhillips Jr. of Jamestown, Rhode Island. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her beloved dog, Buddy, will miss her.

Born and raised in Providence, she and Jack moved to Wakefield, Rhode Island, in 1992 and spent 20 years enjoying life there.  She retired from Hospital Trust National Bank after a career in corporate accounts administration.  Along with her husband, she was an avid NASCAR fan and spent many happy hours traveling the circuit in their various motor homes following their favorite drivers. Joan moved to Little River in 2015. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nathan Andrews Fund, c/o United Community Bank, 3187 Hwy 9 East, Little River, S.C. 29566.
