Wayne Mussehl, 76, of Calabash, N.C., passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Wayne was born on May 12, 1943, to Chester and Clara Mussehl in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Frank W. Ballou High School in 1963 he decided he wanted to serve his country. Wayne joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged from the 3rd infantry division in 1969.
After returning to Washington, Wayne landed his first job as a truck driver for Nabisco, where he carried out his entire career and retired after 39 years. During his time at Nabisco, he met and instantly fell in love with Linda Wilkins, who he married in 1970. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June.
Wayne and Linda raised their three children, Michael, Levy and Melanie, in Morningside, Md. They lived in the same house for 30 years until Wayne retired in 2005, when they relocated to Calabash. Anyone who knew Wayne knew he was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for and worked very hard to provide for his family.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his sisters, Marion and Eileen; his brother, Robert; his three children, Michael, William “Levy” and Melanie; and his nine grandchildren, Eric, Jordan, Billy, Jaxon, Melissa, Alaina, Cori, Dakota and Lucy Grace.
The Mussehl family welcomes any and all stories, photos and memories that Wayne’s friends and colleagues would like to offer. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to their home.
Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
