Marian Lee Faraci

Marian Lee Snelgrove Faraci of Little River passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at a care facility in Aiken at the age of 94. While she lived a long, full and predominantly healthy life, the last few years were challenging due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Marian was born in Fayetteville, N.C., to Oscar Snelgrove and Ethel Beard Snelgrove on March 29, 1926, the younger of two daughters. She attended Fayetteville High School and worked in retail until she married Charles Faraci in 1954. Marian and her sister Allene Capps were very close throughout their lives, as were she and her niece Patricia Capps Gann. After each had their own families, they and their families sometimes vacationed together, including weeks spent at the beach. These were impressive affairs and remain as cherished memories of Marian’s children, nieces and nephews.

During her marriage, Marian became a mother to a boy born in 1956 and a girl born in 1961. She was devoted to her children and family, embracing her roles as a mother and homemaker. Her family and home were her top priorities. Marian was an excellent cook with her family’s favorites including lasagna, lemon meringue pie, many types of seafood and steaks. Marian enjoyed an active social life and took great pleasure entertaining friends and family in her home. She adored her three grandchildren, being actively involved in their lives. Due to her health, she sadly missed the opportunity to really know her great-grandchildren. At the time of her passing, her first great-grandson was almost four years old, while the second was a newborn.

During the first half of her life, Marian and her family lived in multiple locations, including Fayetteville, N.C., Fort Benning, Ga., Fort Sill, Okla., Fairfax, Va., Kansas City, Kan., and even abroad in Germany. She was adept at transforming each house, regardless of its location, into an inviting home for all. Her outgoing personality enabled her to easily make new friends wherever she and her family lived.

After her divorce, Marian met Donald Guyatt in the mid-1980s. They immensely enjoyed their nearly 30 years together, including time spent with family and friends and traveling. She and Don lived in several locations, including Sun City, Ariz., Bradenton, Fla., and Little River. They lived in Little River until 2014, when Marian’s health began to deteriorate resulting in her relocation to a senior care facility.

Marian is survived by her son, Frank Faraci (Anne) of Iowa City, Lowa; and her daughter, Jo Faraci Hannon of Little River; grandchildren, Ryan Hannon (Tiffany) of Little River, Madison Faraci Frantz (Jacob) of Coralville, Lowa, and Krystina Hannon of Little River; and great-grandsons, Oliver Michael Frantz of Coralville and Cameron James Hannon  of Little River.

In addition, Marian is survived by nieces and nephews Patricia Capps Gann (Mike) of Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Capps Mears (Gary) of Mansfield, Texas, Melinda Capps Jonas (John) of San Antonio, Texas, David Capps (Janey) of LaHabra, Calif., and Kenneth Capps of Fayetteville, N.C.

Marian was preceeded in death by her parents, Donald Guyatt, her sister Allene, brother-in-law Herman Capps Sr., nephew Herman Capps Jr. and son-in-law, Ken Hannon, as well as many aunts and cousins.

Marian was a much-loved mother, grandmother and aunt that will be forever missed. Per her wishes, no funeral services will be held. A private burial will be at a later date.
