Brenda Bovender Hicks

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, Brenda Bovender Hicks, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 72.

Brenda was born on Oct. 15, 1947, in Winston Salem, N.C., to James and Juanita Bovender. She worked at Piedmont Airlines and US Airways for 33 years. On Nov. 14, 1993, she married David Hicks. They raised one daughter, Angie Austin, and two sons, Scott and Joshua Hicks.

Brenda loved her church (Hopewell Baptist) and church family. She was a member of many groups at her church. The Pilgrims class was one of her favorites and Devine Direction was as well. Brenda would say thank you Jesus for the opportunity to be involved in those ministry opportunities.

Brenda had a passion for work in ministry with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. She served on numerous deployments with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. She had an extraordinary personality. Everyone she came in contact with she left a lasting impression. Brenda loved to spend time with her family, loved the beach and loved beach music, but most of all her grandchildren. She never met a stranger. A woman so small in stature had a gift from God to love unbelievably large.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, James, and her mother, Juanita. She is survived by her husband, David; her three children, Angie (Ken), Scott (Allison) and Josh; six grandchildren, Gabriel, Olivia, Landon, Farrah, Mason, Asher, Daniel, and Matthew; and one great- grandchild, Oliver.

There will be a memorial service sometime in the near future at Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe, N.C.

In lieu of flowers and cards please make donations to Hopewell Baptist Church, 8900 Concord Hwy., Monroe, N.C.

A guest book is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com.

Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
