James “Jim” W. McLean, 80, of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Jim is survived by his life partner Betty Ann Sharpe; two children, Amy Elizabeth McLean McNally and James “Jamy” Wellington McLean II; stepchildren, Neal Sharpe, Meg Fosnock and Emily Sharpe; grandchildren, Charles Bryce McNally (Holly), AlexZandra McNally Passmore (Paul), Haylee Elizabeth McNally and Sage Fosnock; and great grandchildren, Brooke, Zachary, Domenik and Tessa McNally.
He was born on Sept. 13, 1939, the son of Hugh Bryce McLean and Rada Cox McLean. Through the early years in life he was married to Louise Montgomery for 30 years, and they had two children, Amy and Jamy. Jim was an avid hunter and enjoyed his hobbies with model airplanes. He also was in the archery club. He was a pilot of small model planes and loved working in the greenhouse. He was a hard-working man, making model hardware for furniture at Capital Industries. He was also a member of Welch Memorial United Methodist Church.
Later in life he moved to North Myrtle Beach and met his life partner, Betty Ann Sharpe, of 22 years. He went on to retire in North Myrtle Beach and was active in his community and was part of the O.D. Social and Shag Club and the O.D. Shag Club. He loved to travel and had a green thumb.
Jim will be missed by many but will never be forgotten. He will forever be in our hearts.
The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, in Lee Funeral Home Chapel.
