Jimmy Otto Day

Jimmy Otto Day, 68, of Longs passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020.

Mr. Day was born in Loris, a son of the late Otto and Minnie Suggs Day. He was a member of Camp Swamp United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible study group in Loris. Mr. Day was the owner and operator of Day’s Fireplaces and had previously been employed by Ocean Drive Gas and Appliance Company in North Myrtle Beach for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard.

Mr. Day was predeceased by three sisters, Betty Vandergrift, Joyce Wilhelm and Peggy Workman.

Surviving are his wife, Donna McKee Day of Longs; one son, Brandon McKee Day (Desiree) of Loris; one daughter, Blair Day Gause (Derrick) of Loris; three grandchildren, Riley Gause, McCallie Day and Hayden Day; two sisters, Dinah Harrelson (Donald) of Tabor City, N.C., and Wanda Godwin (Larry) of Clarendon, N.C.; sister-in-law, Diane McKee Wright of Tabor City, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and his special four legged companion, Ellie.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, at Camp  Swamp United Methodist Church with the Rev. Glen Dameron officiating. Burial followed in Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m.  on Monday, March 16.
