Raymond Aubrey McLain, Sr. and Joan McLain

Raymond Aubrey McLain Sr., 82 and Joan McLain, 82, both of Highway 144 Loris, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Raymond was born August 2, 1937, in Falls Church, Va., a son of the late Preston Skidmore and Margaret Burgess McLain.  Prior to retirement, he was a senior personnel management specialist for 29 years and eight months with Architect of the United States Capitol.  He was predeceased by a son, Raymond McLain Jr.

Joan was born on September 15, 1937, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late George M. Casper Jr. and Suzanna Mullen Casper.  She was a registered nurse for 30 years.  She was predeceased by a step-son, Raymond McLain Jr.

They are survived by Raymond’s son, David McLain (Pat) of Loris, Raymond’s daughter, Ellen McLain of Texas, Joan’s daughter, Cindy Smack of Aubrey, Texas, their grandchildren, Shannon Joyner (Brian) and Nathan Hickman, their great-grandchildren, Logan Brumley, Grant Brumley and Emma Brumley, and Raymond’s sister, Rose Kramer of Alabama.

Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland, at a later date.
